Founded in 1977, The aim of the Society is to foster an interest in
understanding,
a knowledge of and an enthusiasm for Oriental Rugs and Textiles. A newsletter is
sent out biannually and meetings are held once a month during the academic year
at the Brunei building, SOAS, Russell Square, London. (Sept - June)

The Oriental rug and Textile Group in Scotland meets monthly from October to
March, usually onthe middle Wednesday, for lectures given by experts in their
field. Membership is in the region of 50. The organisation is strictly
non-commercial. Outings to houses with rug collections and other venues are
sometimes arranged for the summer months. All meetings are held at 7:20 pm
for a 7:30 pm start at the Hunter Building, Edinburgh College of Art, Lauriston
Place, Edinburgh, Scotland.
